Charles Edward Salon

Ok yall, Saturday was quite productive. After getting my own messes cleaned up in Tampa I headed south to see what I could contribute at the new salon coming in south St Pete.

I arrive to find Charlie already well into his chocolate wall (the pros had already done the ceiling the same color a couple days earlier) and Jeanette rolling out the creamy colored walls.

So I get there and ask "what can I do" I was ever so elequently asked....."since you're so tall, would you mind cutting in?" As I looked up at the 11 foot ceiling I noticed the 10 ft ladder the ceiling painters had left and thought..what the fudge.."OK". So I cut in as long as my arms would stand up above and as long as my asscheeks could stand sitting at the baseboard. All in all in a few short hours, the first coat was done and the cutting was near complete. All to meet back tomorrow for more latex based fun.

Sunday 07/22/07:

Ric has "agreed" to let me go back to help finish the painting. Ric has no need for latex in the paint form in his life so has agreed to do the Mamosa brunch and be the Sunday St Pete Times 'lector' while we all work. I had visions of those that rolled cigars while being read to. I had also asked him to take a couple pix of the progress.....evidence below that Mamosas do nothing for following instructions....but the ladder pic is kinda cool....Ric sleeping ....not as cool.

Any whoooo......the painting continued with Nick rolling out the second coat on the walls, while Charlie finished the second coat of chocolate and I finished the last of the cut-in.

Coming ......Charles Edward Salon

There's a saying that goes "When a door closes a window opens". Well, this has proven true for some friends.

Ya see, they all work together (Nick is actually the co-owner) at a salon in St. Pete. The property has been sold to a developer and the building will soon be razed to make room for yet another stripmall or some other desparately needed eyesore.

The bright spot here is the fact that Charlie (center) is climbing through that open window and has Nick (left) and Ric moving with him. Charles Edward Salon is soon to be a reality.

All three guys have decades of experience and are masters of their craft. They are 3 of the kindest, funnest guys you could meet. I'm sure this new venture will take off like a rooster with a fox on its hind feathers.

Here are a couple pics at the start of the transition of the new space. I'm going over to help paint tomorrow, so I'll get some more pics to post. It's really great to witness dreams coming to life and even better to pitch in and help a little bit.
